Opal Rewards
Opal is Kerne's pre TGE loyalty and rewards program. It rewards the earliest participants with a meaningful claim on the community $KERNE allocation at TGE. The earlier you participate and the more you contribute, the larger your share.
How Opal Fragments Work
Opal Fragments represent your cumulative contribution to the protocol. At TGE, the community allocation of $KERNE is distributed proportionally to all qualifying Fragment holders based on their time-weighted score, not just their balance at snapshot. This means consistent, long-term participation is rewarded more than last minute deposits.
No fixed Fragment to KERNE conversion rate is promised in advance. The conversion depends entirely on total protocol participation.
Earning Opal Fragments
- Vault Deposits (Primary): Deposit supported assets into KerneVault and earn Fragments based on the size of your deposit and how long you hold it. Fragment accrual is computed daily based on your position. Deposits must be held for a minimum of 7 days before they begin earning Fragments.
- kUSD Holding: Hold kUSD in your wallet to earn Fragments at a reduced rate, rewarding broader ecosystem participation beyond vault deposits.
- Referrals: Generate a unique referral link from the Opal dashboard. When a referred user deposits and holds, you earn a percentage of their daily Fragment accrual. Referral relationships are recorded on-chain and are permanent. The referral system supports up to three levels of depth, rewarding network builders who bring in users who in turn bring in more users. There is a cap on total referral bonus relative to your own deposit earnings.
TGE Conversion
At TGE, a snapshot of all Fragment balances is taken. The $KERNE allocation is distributed based on your Time-Weighted score, which is the average of your daily Fragment balance over the entire program duration. This protects early participants from last-minute dilution.
A minimum Fragment threshold is required to qualify. KERNE received through Opal conversion vests: a portion is available at TGE, and the remainder vests over an extended period.
Anti Gaming Rules
- Deposits must be held for 7 days before they begin earning Fragments
- Fragments are calculated on minimum daily balance, not peak balance
- Withdrawals within the same block as a deposit receive zero accrual
- Referrers must have an active deposit before their referral link generates bonus
- Daily and lifetime caps prevent any single wallet from dominating accrual
- Wallets exhibiting coordinated Sybil behavior may be flagged and banned
- Fragments are credited regularly; the terminal page shows a real time estimated balance between updates
